Our heart rate just went up, and it’s definitely not from running.
To celebrate Curdtoberfest, Culver’s has announced the return of their legendary CurderBurger.
As if their classic ButterBurgers weren’t diabolical enough, Culver’s decided to up the stakes and slap a hockey puck-sized cheese curd on top.
We’re not sure who exactly asked for this, but sometimes we just have to tip our hats to those ‘Sconnie maniacs…
Actually, we do know. The CurderBurger started as an April Fools joke in 2021, but leave it to the cheeseheads to say, “Hey wait, we’d actually love some more dairy on our ButterBurgers.”
Soon enough, fans went as far as creating online petitions demanding Culver’s make the thing for real. Culver’s, seeing the viral marketing potential, happily obliged. We’d expect nothing less from the place whose most frequently ordered side salad might just be a frozen custard shake…
The rest is history. Culver’s has been running limited releases of the CurderBurger every year since. (Which still isn’t enough, apparently — many Culver diehards DIY hack the menu in the off-season, ordering a burger and curds and topping the patty themselves.)
We haven’t yet subjected our arteries to this monstrosity, probably because we’re too obsessed with all the truly mind-blowing burgers in town. But if the initial reviews are to be trusted, the CurderBurger is as advertised – cheesy goodness on top of a cult-favorite fast food patty. Not surprising, since Culver’s curds are actually pretty solid. Not quite the best cheese curds in the Twin Cities, but they’re probably the best fast food option. (Way better than A&W’s lackluster take. Sean still hasn’t forgiven the misguided local who recommended those as his first ever cheese curds.)
Speaking of arteries, the official menu claims this buttery behemoth is only 840 calories. Color me shocked – the 2025 Minnesota State Fair’s Uncrustaburger (rumored at 4,000 calories) laughs at this health food.
Calories schmalories… the CurderBurger is available until October, and then we can all go back to pretending we eat salads.
