As more of us look to gather for celebrations again, private dining rooms in the Twin Cities are filling up again.

Many of these spots book out months in advance. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you plan ahead and find your perfect spot.

From the extra-swanky to the cozy and casual, here are the best options for private dining rooms in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Twin Cities Metro.

Union Rooftop

There’s something extra special about attending a sunshine-filled event at the Union Rooftop event space in the middle of winter. As the only year-round fully enclosed heated rooftop in Minnesota, we love coming to events here any time of the year—but especially in the dead of winter when we’re all Vitamin D deprived.  The views of the downtown Minneapolis skyline aren’t too shabby for after-dark events either!  Union Rooftop works with a larger event-hospitality company for reservations and planning, so expect lots of support (and fine-print contract language) when booking.

Spoon and Stable

If you’re wanting to treat your guests to an award-winning farm-to-table experience, look no further than Spoon and Stable. Getting a reservation for one of their private dining rooms might take you six months or more, but it promises to be a dinner you and your group won’t soon forget.  Choose from their larger Hennepin Salon (up to 24 guests) or the St. Anthony Parlor (seated for 12 guests or cocktail for 18 guests).  Rooms can be reserved together for a welcome reception in one and chef-prepared dinner in the other.

Stella’s Fish Café

Okay, so perhaps fish café doesn’t scream swanky private banquet space.  But anyone who has spent time on Stella’s patio in the summer knows how great the views of Uptown, the cocktails, and the laid-back staff are here.  Available for groups of up to 200 people, throw your next party at one of the hottest rooftop spots in town.

The Lynhall

With three different options for private dining at their Lynlake location and the elegant Wisteria Room at the Edina location, The Lynhall is the best spot if you’re looking for that perfect, rustic-chic backdrop for your next celebration.  Cozy fireplaces, warm décor, and an award-winning seasonal menu. Lynhall offers the option to serve meals family-style, believing “in the power and spirit of breaking bread together.”

Café & Bar Lurcat

Not only does Minneapolis-favorite Café Lurcat make our list of most romantic restaurants, but it also makes our list of best places to throw a party in honor of that special someone.  Dial-up the romance on your rehearsal dinner, small wedding dinner, or anniversary party in one of their unique spaces.  Equipped to host anything from a whole wedding to a small cocktail hour, the team at Café Lurcat can customize every part of your event.  Just expect to spend premium rates for the extra-special service, menu, and attention you’ll get.

The Volstead Lounge at Freehouse

Sleek and stylish private event space for up to 75 ✓

The Volstead Lounge checks everything off the list for a casual outing in the North Loop area of the city.  The team at Freehouse strives to make events here uniquely special.  The lounge is located off their main dining area in an elevated space that can easily be curtained off or opened up to the main brewery and bar area. It’s a perfect space to raise a glass of their craft beer in celebration of your next team event, holiday gathering, or birthday party.

The Lexington

Sometimes the best backdrop to celebrate a significant milestone is a place with a storied history.  The Lexington on Grand Avenue in St. Paul has been hosting events for more than 75 years.  With 5 different dining rooms to choose from, it’s not hard to find the perfect fit for your rehearsal dinner or anniversary celebration. We only wish we had excuses to throw parties in the extra-cool Williamsburg Room all the time.

Holman’s Table

Jet-setters from all over the Metro will swoon over an invitation to your next event at Holman’s Table.  The Earhart Room has the same mid-century modern décor and view of the private jets landing at the St. Paul Airport as the farm-to-table restaurant.  You’ll also get a chef-crafted, personalized menu and cocktails that your guests will be talking about for years.

Sweeney’s Saloon

While the other options on this list might suggest a formal night out, Sweeney’s on Selby & Dale in St. Paul has something else to offer. We celebrated my husband’s graduation from his MBA in the Ashland Room a few years ago.  The semi-private room off their main bar area was perfect for our open-house style celebration.  Their upstairs private dining room can seat up to 100 for a more formal dinner, with a stage and dance floor for an entire event.

Lela

Executive chef treatment for 10? Yes, please. Modern wine room with a world-class wine selection? Sign us up! Or just a happy hour high-top affair?  All of these are options in the private dining space at Lela. Located in the Bloomington Sheraton near 494 and 100 interchange, the ease of getting your guests to and from downtown Minneapolis and the airport also adds appeal to Lela.
